Our Breeding Program

We follow the standards of the German SV which require that all dogs that are bred have a minimum working title of a Schutzhund One, minimum show rating of a SG (Sehr Gut), and a Breed Survey rating.  In addition, before being bred females must be at least 20 months of age, and males 24 months.

Working Titles that our dogs accomplish:

AD = 12.5 mile endurance test; The AD is required for a Breed Survey rating.
BH = Obedience and Traffic sureness test; The BH is required for a SchH 1 title or higher.
SchH1 = Schutzhund One title; The Schutzhund one title is comprised of three phases, tracking, obedience and protection.  In tracking the dog must score a minimum of 70 points (out of 100) to pass.  70 points is also required in obedience for a passing score.  In protection a minimum of 80 points will give a dog a passing score.
SchH2 = Schutzhund Two title; The SchH2 is similar to the SchH1, except every discipline is harder. The track is longer and laid by a stranger and both obedience and protection are more complicated.
SchH3 = Schutzhund Three title; The SchH3 is the ultimate, the most difficult of all three titles.

Show Titles:

VP = puppy rating of “Very Promising”
P = puppy rating of “Promising”
SG = young dog or adult rating of “Very Good”
G = young dog or adult rating of “Good”
V = this is an adult rating, the dog must be titled and breed surveyed to receive this rating.
VA = “Excellent Select”; this is an adult rating (dog must be titled a minimum of SchH2 and breed surveyed KKL1) that is only given at a Sieger Show.  The dog must pass a protection routine before being considered for a VA title.  This is an ELITE rating.

The bloodlines we use:  We choose to breed West German Show Line German Shepherd Dogs.  You may ask, “Show Lines? Does that mean they can’t work?”  The answer is No.  You will find our dogs on the Schutzhund field, competing in AKC events, in the show ring and as loving, family companions.  We began our mother line with German Import bitches of the highest quality.  They had to possess a willingness to work, a desire to please, an unflappable temperament, good health, strong hips and elbows and all the while keeping an eye on structure and gaiting ability.
